Haryana State Open Board of Schooling (HSOBS) aims to provide Secondary and Senior Secondary education to individuals belonging to socially, economically, and educationally disadvantaged groups. This includes Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, socially and educationally backward classes, and other sections of society that face barriers in accessing formal schooling. The Board also supports learners from remote and underserved regions who are unable to pursue education through the conventional system.
HSOBS is committed to offering professional educational services to the Government and other organizations for the development and expansion of the school education system. The Board develops and delivers appropriate curricula for academic, vocational, and continuing education programs designed to prepare students for higher studies and employment opportunities.
Admission to the Senior Secondary course is open to learners who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria, including the minimum age requirement as on the 1st of August of the year of admission, and who qualify through the entrance process as specified by the Board under the open and distance learning mode.
HSOBS functions under the Department of Education and caters to the educational needs of school dropouts, working individuals seeking advancement, and other learners who require flexible learning pathways. The Secondary and Senior Secondary certificates issued by the Board are recognized for purposes determined by the State Government, subject to the applicable statutes and regulations.
The Board follows curricula aligned with the guidelines of national and state educational bodies such as SCERT, NCERT, and other relevant authorities, along with policies issued by the State and Central Governments from time to time.
